A collection of essays on reading mythology for deep meaning.
8.5" x 5.5"

As my regular readers know, I am fascinated with mythology. Not only with reading myths for pleasure, but with reading them for depth - for the encoded messages which seek us out like guided missiles travelling down through the centuries to find us where we live today.
Three of these essays were previously published online, but I have re-edited them, honed them for clarity (I hope) and expanded them to suit a more leisurely reader. There is also a new essay, exploring that oft quoted phrase from Sallustius, that "to conceal the truth by myths prevents the contempt of the foolish, and compels the good to practice philosophy." That essay also looks at Sallustius' ideas about myth more generally. (Pro tip: Sallustius was a pretty smart old Pagan!)
