Much of the inspiration for these poems arose as a result of teaching the Celtic Myths and Deities course. There are so many Celtic deities, and each deity has so many different facets, and I love this kaleidoscopic experience of them! Hopefully, I have shared a little of that with the reader in this collection.
from: Mabon
I am waist deep
in the water sitting like a child in a bath when Mabon says to me "Let me take some of this pain away." He drizzles water over my arm from a cup or a sponge I'm not sure It's a bit dark but I savour the moment arm held out like a cormorant I savour it in all its oddness and amidst my own doubts Is this real? Would I dare to let go of the pain if it was real? |
There's more
there's always more then Mabon says to me in the iron red copper green blood salt bone hard warmth of the belly of the Mother I was nestled 'til Her warm waters gushed forth with me I saw the sky and felt the sun I nourished the wild ones became a wallow where they soothed themselves in muddy joy |
