Mabon ap Modron and Maponos

Saturday, 18th September at 12 noon Pacific/3 pm Eastern/8 pm UK time

Picture
Maponos  was worshipped in Gaul and northern Britain, and it was also in northern Britain that a cult of Maponos, gradually re-named Mabon, seems to have been strongest. Mabon ap Modron is mentioned in many early Welsh texts, and is a main character in the ancient tale of Culhwch and Olwen.

This presentation will look at archaeological and textual evidence for Mabon and Maponos, associated places, and how Mabon is perceived in neoPaganism. Attendees will be able to download a PDF document on the topic, after the class, and there will be time for questions during the online talk.

This class is also the first of a six week series: Mabon, Modron, and The Mabinogi. If you decide that you want to register for the series, after attending this class, there will be an opportunity to apply your payment for this event to the cost of the series.

Look for confirmation of your purchase in your email inbox. A zoom link for the class meeting will follow.
